Conquering His Cold Heart

Chapter 371 - 371 My Castle

Vincent, Zenon, and Percy were already sitting there as if they had been waiting for Caspian to arrive. As soon as they saw the King, they all got up on their feet and gave a bow.

Caspian took a seat in front of all those three and after they also sat down on their respective seats, he gave a questioning look to them. From the look of it, it seemed as if the investigation was already undergoing.

Zenon instantly cleared his throat and filled the King in about what everyone had been up to in the absence of the King.

“Vincent already told me everything about what happened yesterday. I think he forgot to tell you how he had also ordered the guards to stop anyone from leaving the castle until they were ordered otherwise.”

“Oh?” Caspian gave a quizzical glance at Vincent to which, he agreed with a nod.

Zenon continued while gesturing at the head servant, “And Percy here was telling me how he had asked all of the maids and servants to stay in their respective rooms until further notice. He suspects that there might be quite a handful of maids and servants who might not be that happy about the humans living in the castle.”

“What?” Caspian scoffed. “This is my castle! And they just work here. Are you telling me they are dissatisfied with my wife living in my castle?”

Zenon drew in a deep breath through his mouth and then nodded. “Yes, he is saying exactly that.”

.....

“Then they are free to leave my castle if they are dissatisfied!” Caspian grumbled.

And once again, Zenon agreed in a similar calm manner, “Yes. We are going to do exactly that. We need to weed out those who harbor ill intentions or dissatisfaction towards the humans of the castle. If they can’t live harmoniously then they need to leave. We don’t want anything similar repeating in the future as well.”

Caspian’s anger subsided to a certain degree when Zenon said the same thing that he was thinking.

Zenon then clasped his palms together and said to the King, “Okay, why don’t you and Vincent go and get the full detail about the incident from Tilla first? Till then, I will take care of the other official matters. I need to postpone the meeting with the ministers.”

“Okay, sounds good.” Vincent was dying to go and check up on Tilla.

However, he was resisting doing so because he didn’t want to provoke the other vampire maids and servants by roaming around freely after killing someone. Nobody knew the full truth. And to add to that, he and Percy had restricted their movement, raising their suspicion.

Thus, he was waiting for Caspian to arrive at the castle so that no one would think that he was trying to take over the throne or something.

Caspian and Vincent reached in front of Tilla’s door in no time.

Vincent quickly knocked on the door and said, “His Majesty wants to talk with Tilla.”

Suddenly they heard Holly exclaiming, “No, Tilla! The doctor said that you should not move for two days! Stop trying to get out of bed! You’re going to hurt–”

Vincent instantly flung the door open and shouted as well, “Tilla! It’s okay! You don’t have to stand up when you can’t even… move.”

Holly was pinning Tilla down on the bed while Tilla was still struggling to free herself.

Caspian narrowed his eyes and clenched his jaw upon seeing Tilla in that pathetic situation. His blood boiled imagining Anastasia in Tilla’s state. But he was also thankful that nothing serious happened to Anastasia.

“It’s okay! Don’t force yourself,” he asked Tilla in an authoritative tone.

Tilla gave a nod and eased her head and neck, the only parts that she was able to move without straining herself too much.

Holly finally left her hold on Tilla and began fumbling around the room in search of something that she could offer the King and the Lord to sit on. “Umm… There’s no chair here…” she mumbled, wondering if she was supposed to go out and find them or if she was supposed to do nothing about it.

Caspian waved his hand and ordered, “You don’t need to worry about that. Why don’t you go and ask the chef to prepare breakfast for the Queen? She might be hungry.”

Holly bowed in agreement. She then quickly slipped past Vincent and Caspian and ran out of the small room.

Immediately after, Vincent went and stood next to Tilla’s bed and asked her in a soft tone, “How are you feeling now? Is the pain too much to handle?”

Tilla lifted her gaze and looked at Vincent. There were signs of worry written all over his face. She softly smiled and replied, “No. The doctor gave me some medicine to soothe my pain. And it is really effective. I can’t feel a thing.”

“That’s good to hear,” Vincent replied, not knowing that Tilla was literally not feeling a thing.

The lower half of her body was completely numb. She didn’t know if it was because of the medicine or if she hurt her back so bad that she was paralyzed. She had tried to move her back and legs but she had no control over them at the moment. She could barely move her hands while she could fairly move her neck and head.

Caspian didn’t want to stick out like a sore thumb in their conversation. But he didn’t want any delay in serving justice. Thus, he unwillingly interrupted the two of them, “Tilla, I wanted to ask you a few questions.”

Tilla instantly turned her gaze towards Caspian and asked, “Yes, Your Majesty?”

“Anastasia told me that she witnessed that maid suffocating you by the well. Why was she doing that? Was she trying to kill you or prey on you?” Caspian asked.

Since things had gone badly, Tilla didn’t want to hide anything anymore. She had already learned her lesson. “Umm…” She looked at Vincent and mumbled, “That maid was jealous of me because Lord Vincent was showering me with affection even though I am just a normal maid like them. And–”

“W-What?” Vincent exchanged a confused glance with Caspian and then looked back at Tilla. And he tried to confirm again, “You’re telling me that I was the reason why that maid attacked you?”
